Painter and twitch streamer DDay Gaming will be hosting a special event this coming weekend. Hailing from down under in Melbourne, Dean is an avid painter who focuses on creating a fun and relaxed environment while he paints miniatures and broadcasts them live across the internet. After jumping back into the hobby mid-way through last year, he decided to make a concerted effort to improve his painting skills. You can see just how far he’s come in the images featured throughout this article.

Starting with the most recent Age of Sigmar starter box from Games Workshop, he set out to find some advice and tutorials across the web. While poking around the hobby world, he discovered a great community of painters who stream painting and other hobby crafts online using Twitch. After a short time he decided to join them and participate in this new found community. Since then he has started to stream using the service on a daily basis and continues to not only push his own skills further, but also pass on his own knowledge to viewers tuning in.

Ever modest, he credits all of his knowledge and skill to watching other streamers and simply experimenting with lots of different techniques. A big fan of fantasy themed miniatures, you’ll find him mostly painting models for Age of Sigmar, Bloodbowl & Warhammer 40k, plus the odd Reaper Miniature – and really anything else he can get his hands on. More than just a painter of fine toy soldiers, he also pushes himself creatively in other areas, dabbling in everything from traditional painting and sketching to woodwork. Talented and entertaining, his streams are definitely worth checking out if you’re at all interested in miniature painting.

With over four-hundred users now following his broadcasts, he’s definitely gained quite a respectable audience and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Seeking to give something back to the hobby and take advantage of his captive audience, he has decided to run a charity giveaway/raffle where viewers will be able to donate funds to his chosen charity Extra Life.
