Bulletin – Painting Australian Commandos

Following the release of an official set of rules covering the Australian army during WWII for Bolt Action, Warlord Games have continued this support with the first set of official models for our troops.

The new box set depicts commando forces commonly found in the pacific theatre fighting in the jungles of places like New Guinea. All up there are ten metal one piece miniatures complete with iconic Australian fatigues, gear and weapons like the famous Owen sub machine gun.

In a recent article on their official website, contributor Bryan Cook goes through all the details of the new models as well as some commentary on how well these guys stuck up against our historical records. The big ticket item for hobbyist however, is the comprehensive painting guide, covering everything from basing materials to washing and highlights. With heaps of images and straight forward advice, the guide is an easy recommendation to anyone looking to paint these – or any other pacific themed Australian force you might have lurking around.
